You step into your bathroom to get ready for the day and realize that you are standing in a puddle. The bathroom sink is overflowing! This is an obvious moment when you need to do some damage control while you get a plumber to your house ASAP.
Not all plumbing issues are this obvious though. If you have a plumbing problem and you aren’t sure if it is worth expert help, we want to help you clarify things. A good rule of thumb to remember is that when in doubt, it’s best to simply call a plumber in Norman, OK from the get-go!
1. You suspect you have a leak
Have you noticed that the water flow to one or more of your faucets is a little weaker than usual? Perhaps you can hear the sound of water running in the pipes in your walls for no good reason. Things like these are indicators that you have a leak somewhere in your home. The sooner you schedule a visit from a plumber to find and address the leak, the better it will be.
2. Your toilet won’t flush or runs nonstop
You need a functioning toilet to get through your daily life. So if your toilet isn’t functioning properly or at all, it’s a big issue. A toilet that is running constantly may have a leak in the bowl or the tank. A toilet that simply cannot flush likely has a problem with the drainage system. When you run into problems with your toilet that can’t be fixed with a plunger, make sure to reach out to a plumber as soon as you can.
3. You have multiple clogged drains
One clogged drain may be fixable with a plunger and some elbow grease. It may also be something that requires a little extra help from a plumber who can use a drain snake or hydro-jet to clear away the debris. However, if you are noticing that you have multiple drains backing up at the same time you have a larger issue on your hands. Make sure to have a plumber come by to check out your drainage system in your sewer line.
4. You have a water heater that isn’t heating anything
It may start out as your water heater taking longer to provide hot water but it will likely escalate into days when you only have a few minutes of hot water before things get chilly. From there you’ll likely notice you won’t have any hot water at all. When your hot water heater is not able to do its job properly, you need to reach out to a plumber for repairs as soon as possible before you require a replacement.
5. There is trouble with your gas-based appliances
This one may be surprising, but plumbers are the people who you’re going to turn to for your gas line needs. This is because the lines that are used to provide natural gas to your house are pretty much the same as the ones that provide water and drainage. If you notice that your gas stove is struggling or you are having problems with any other gas-powered appliances in your home, make sure to reach out to a plumber to investigate things.
